Design study for the major cutlery manufacturer in the North
Our Finnish customer Hackman was established already in 1790 and is the leading manufacturer of pots, frying pans and cutlery in Scandinavia. The aim was the integration of a chef's knife series in the existing pot series "Tools".
Basis of the unfortunately unrealized concept WERKSDESIGN was the modernization of traditional design elements in this conservative sector.
This was achieved through sensitive displacement of classic proportions and shapes and the use of aluminum handle shells as a substitute for wood/melamine.
Second focus of WERKSDESIGN was on ergonomics: Different cross-sections and balancings were designed and examined by usability tests.
